A Late Hard Frost
Stephanie Joyce Cole
Cassandra’s life as a talented but isolated artist has allowed her to hide the haunting emotional wounds from her past. Now, unexpectedly, she finally has the love of the one man she’s adored for so many years. But that love has come at a terrible price: the destruction of the only true friendship that matters to her. As Cassandra struggles to control the massive changes ricocheting through the fabric of her life, a sinister figure lurks in hiding, watching her, waiting for his chance to claim her as his own. A Late Hard Frost returns to the world of Compass North, and the entangled lives of Cassandra, Merry and Nick in the quirky small town of Homer, Alaska.

After living for decades in Alaska, Stephanie Joyce Cole relocated to Seattle, where she lives with a rather predatory Manx cat (no tail!) named Bruno, a standard poodle named Rusty who is in perpetual motion, and an adorable husband named Chuck. Since 1986, Stephanie has been associated with The Alaska Quarterly Review, an award-winning literary magazine housed at the University of Alaska, where she is currently a Senior Affiliate Editor. Stephanie has a law degree from UCLA and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She loves ceramics, hiking, yoga and of course reading, reading, reading. Her goal is to write books that are both thought-provoking and entertaining, books that will carry readers into adventure in small-town Alaska.
